  • Episode: Holy Communion
Original air date: Tuesday, May 08, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week we explore a Wednesday evening talk given by Charles Fillmore on February 20, 1924. It is entitled “Holy Communion.” The talk focuses on the traditional view of Holy Communion as well as the Unity view. Quite surprisingly, Fillmore states, "So you can see the Catholic Church is in a measure right.”  He also says, “You take it [the Life of Christ] in on faith, and there is the preparation of your understanding. You understand what substance is and how it works. There is only one substance. Our bodies are all made from one substance, and when we get into that substance we are all members of the body of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the more we think about that the more we come into that and that is the Holy Communion.”

In The Revealing Word, we start over again with the entry on “God.” We explore the first  three paragraphs. The emphasis in this sharing is noticing how the definition of God bounces back and forth from an anthropomorphic God to “God is not person but Principle.”
  • Episode: Learning to Unify Mixed Impulses
Original air date: Tuesday, May 01, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week we review a talk given by Charles Fillmore on December 5, 1932, entitled, “Learning to Unify Mixed Impulses.”  In Charles’ own words the talk is basically about this: “We have this mixed state of mind, and it is deluding every one of us into believing that certain things are true that are not true: and it is our duty and it our great and everlasting work to bring up within us and baptize our souls with this ever-living water of Spirit, this well of living water within.”

In the last segment we began our exploration of the term “God” in The Revealing Word.
  • Episode: The Work of Spiritual Ideas in Sense Consciousness
Original air date: Tuesday, April 24, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s Charles Fillmore talk was delivered on January  13, 1924, and is entitled “The Work of Spiritual Ideas in Sense Consciousness." It is based on Genesis 47:1-12 in which Joseph’s family is permitted to come to the land of Goshen by Pharoah. The key concepts is that we must allow our higher spiritual consciousness to enter into sense consciousness without becoming a part of it so that sense consciousness may be redeemed, regenerated and brought to a higher plane. Fillmore stated at the end of the talk, “Let us remember this lesson and apply it definitely today in restoring our bodies to spiritual consciousness, bringing them out of mere material sensation into spiritual activity through the power of the Lord Jesus Christ, our great brother, our great pioneer in these mighty realms of Spirit and matter, because Spirit and matter are unified in the one who understands the divine law.”

In the final segment, we turned our attention to The Revealing Word where we explored from “generic” to “God.”

  • Episode: The Authority of the Divine Feminine Restored
Original air date: Tuesday, April 10, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week we explore a talk given by Charles Fillmore on “The Authority of the Divine Feminine Restored." It was delivered on January 16, 1916. Fillmore focuses on the Divine Feminine in two ways. First, this is a talk directed at men to listen to their wives and the importance of man having a woman in his life to have access to her intuitive knowing. Second, he shares that each of us have the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine in consciousness and so, metaphysically and metaphorically we must be using both aspects to produce a good life. He states there is a law: “The Law is that the feminine quality shall go into every affair of life. It is necessary.” Fillmore also speculates that Jesus had a wife and it was Mary the sister of Martha. He says, “We cannot escape the conclusion that Jesus Christ himself had a wife.”

In The Revealing Word, we explored from “gate, narrow” to generation.

  • Episode: Faith: Preamble to the Christian Business Man’s Constitution
Original air date: Tuesday, March 27, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week we review a talk given by Charles Fillmore on July 28, 1921. The title is “Faith: Preamble to the Christian Business Man’s Constitution." It includes a reading of the preamble and affirmation statement. Both formed the basis for the way in which Unity conducted the business side of its ministry. This model would serve today’s business world. Fillmore says, “So you must make up your mind that you must give value received for value given. You must render a value for the good that you get from this omnipresent life, substance, intelligence and power. And in our work we start fundamentally with that proposition that all things are here, waiting for us to appropriate them, to enter into ths great storehouse of the Infinite Mind and take whatsoever we need.” Notice Fillmore says TAKE whatsoever we need and not ask. This is because Infinite Mind is made up of Divine Ideas and we must take and appropriate them in order to use them. Fillmore also emphasizes the importance of being in loving service.

There was no sharing from The Revealing Word this week due to the length of the article.

  • Episode: Forgiveness
Original air date: Tuesday, March 13, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s talk, "Forgiveness," was delivered by Charles Fillmore on October 29, 1924. It begins with a short explanation and example of “that something that jumps up inside” and seems to give us ideas. Fillmore calls this “the higher self.” He says, “It makes a difference how you identify this voice that talks to you … I have found that for those people who give it the name of the Lord it can’t be wrong. It is Spirit.” Fillmore shares: “In all your experiences see it spiritually and think about it spiritually. The forgiveness part is about forgiving ourselves our ignorance for it is just ignorance that makes us think such things as evil and ignorant states of consciousness.” He says our first prayer should be “Forgive me my ignorance.” He also says we should forgive ourselves for our thoughts of limitation.
  • Episode: Helps Toward Freedom
Original air date: Tuesday, March 06, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s talk, “Helps Toward Freedom,” was given by Charles Fillmore on July 11, 1937. It focuses on the story of Moses as found in the third chapter of Exodus. During the program I amp up Charles Fillmore’s affirmation to: I exert myself so that the Christ I already am expresses fully. The talk ended with this: “You will find that in this inner spiritual silence you will develop an assurance and with it a power of the Spirit that you had no idea you possessed … and raise you up higher and higher in consciousness until you enter into the kingdom of the heavens here and now.”

In The Revealing Word we reviewed from “free will” to the “narrow gate.”
  • Episode: Review: Prophetic Vision Active
Original air date: Tuesday, February 28, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s talk given by Charles Fillmore was entitled “Review: Prophetic Vision Active.” It was given on Sunday, December 18, 1927.  Fillmore offers a perspective that both adds to metaphysical insight and complements our cultural/ historical study of the Bible. Fillmore suggests the prophets should be divided into the demonstrating and discerning prophets. Fillmore states that “religion is progressive, … But I can’t help but think that religion is evolutionary; that we evolve in spiritual understanding.“

In The Revealing Word we explored from “food” to “free will.”  Fillmore states, “… true forgiveness is only established through renewing the mind and body with thoughts and words of Truth.”
  • Episode: Transmutation
Original air date: Tuesday, February 21, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s talk given by Charles Fillmore was titled “Transmutation.” We do not know when it was given. It focuses on regeneration and the Twelve Powers, especially the Power of Power or Dominion. It is a metaphysical interpretation of Jesus’ first miracle at the Wedding of Cana. In it Fillmore refers to three steps in the action of the mind: First, the consciousness of an idea; second, working out the idea in consciousness, and then the third is the one of execution, setting forth, making manifest in the outer. Toward the end, Fillmore metaphysically interprets the elements of communion, wine and bread.

In The Revealing Word, we reviewed from “feet” to “flocks.”

  • Episode: Love Leads to Power
Original air date: Tuesday, February 14, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s talk was delivered by Charles Fillmore on Sunday, September 3, 1933, and is titled, "Love Leads to Power." Fillmore differentiates among the fleshly love (the love of sensation), human love (love of family—father, mother, sister, brother, sweetheart) and spiritual love. The first two are essentially selfish, while spiritual love "forgets self in its desire to help others." Other interesting points Charles Fillmore makes include, "Man does give character to this universal either by his thought, and it is our thought that is the great transformer of our minds." He also shared that, “Our greatest need is to understand the law of thought, especially thought turned to love." Finally, at the end of the talk, Fillmore strongly emphasizes the importance of women and their love of peace that is helping to transform the world. "When the women of the land rise up in their might and demand the reign of love and peace in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, it will come to pass overnight."

Charles also talks about first receiving in mind and then receiving in some visible manifestation. In the second part of the talk, Fillmore shares about the importance of the Unity work to the world. Charles emphasizes: “The greatest work of men is to teach the world of morality based on spiritual understanding, but you will never be a good teacher until you begin to teach yourself, unfold the great powers within yourself.”

A good deal of time is invested in reviewing entries in The Revealing Word from “Faithless Generation” to “Feet.”

    Episode Description:
This week’s talk, delivered by Charles Fillmore on November 30, 1913, is titled "The Necessity of Expression.” This is one of the most direct talks by Charles Fillmore. Fillmore concluded with this: "You have the power within yourself. ... Realize this and erase, through absolute denial, from your mind all that would seem to oppose it in the material, in the surroundings, [and] in the thoughts of your mind. Wipe it all away, and come rejoicing, giving thanks to the great I AM for your spiritual sight, for your understanding."

We did not get to any entries in The Revealing Word.

Fillmore shares, "We have to break up the old to get into the new." He also stresses the importance to "see ourselves as Divine instead of human." Finally, Charles Fillmore makes a very important point about his view of Jesus Christ: "And, by being loyal to Jesus Christ as the Great Demonstrator and this Prince, this Holy One of God in ourselves, we develop it, we bring it forth; and although everything seems for a time to be turned upside down, good comes of it."

In The Revealing Word, we began with "Faith, How Cultivated" and ended with "Faith, Understanding."

  • Episode: Bringing Good Out of Evil
Original air date: Tuesday, January 10, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s lesson is entitled “Bringing Good out of Evil” and was given by Charles Fillmore on July 26, 1931. Fillmore shares his view about good and evil. He states, “Any argument to the effect that evil is necessary to the bringing forth of good is of no effect at all. It is futile.” I share that we can use “evil” to bring forth good and blessings, if we so choose. Fillmore states, “The actor … determines whether the action, whether the energy, whether the life is to be good or not good." He also speaks to religious persecution and ends with an interesting support of the system in Russia during his time. In The Revealing Word we reviewed from “faculty, spiritual” to “ faith cure.” Next week we begin with the term “faith, how cultivated.”

  • Episode: The Distinguishing Trait of the Christ Mind
Original air date: Tuesday, January 03, 2012
    Episode Description:
This week’s lesson is entitled, “The Distinguishing Trait of the Christ Mind,” and was given by Charles Fillmore on March 26, 1933. It is a review lesson that followed a series of 12. Fillmore starts out by saying there are several traits and alludes to the Twelve Powers. In the talk he distinguishes several types of Truth, from the Truth of Being to the Truth of the Sign. He states, “We must not only get an understanding of Truth, but we must demonstrate it.” He also touches on the meaning of prosperity. He also shares about Satan. Most interestingly, Fillmore stated, “Satan is that phase of thought in the human mind that forms personality. Satan is not essentially evil, but if allowed dominion in man’s consciousness, separates him from his spiritual source, God Mind."

In The Revealing Word, we reviewed from “evil” to “eyes, blind.” Next week we begin with the terms in letter F.

  • Episode: Christmas: A Lesson From Charles Fillmore
Original air date: Tuesday, December 20, 2011
    Episode Description:

This week’s lesson is entitled “Christmas," and was given by Charles Fillmore on December 19, 1923. Fillmore reflects on his view of how Christmas came about, connecting it to the various celebrations of what he called "barbarians." In the talk he shares about what the angels said: “Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, goodwill to men.” Fillmore takes a literal view and I give it a metaphysical twist. Toward the end, Fillmore explains what holy communion is, defining the bread as Substance and the wine as Life.

In The Revealing Word, we simply explore the term “evil.” This rich explanation of evil pulls in some of Charles Fillmore’s basic underlying beliefs. Most importantly, Fillmore states, “He [man = men and women] can do away with evil by learning rightly to use the one Power. If there were a power of evil, it could not be changed.”

  • Episode: Spiritual Identity
Original air date: Tuesday, December 13, 2011
    Episode Description:
This week we explore a Charles Fillmore talk, entitled "Spiritual Identity," which was delivered on March 14, 1926. Fillmore shares a great deal about the ethers and the rays. He also references the Twelve Powers when he says, “We study the Scriptures in order that we may develop the great resources in our soul, but as directive and showing everyone of us where and how and through which we may come into a better understanding of those innate powers which exist in every soul." He concludes with this: “In your meditations, prayers, try to lay hold of the great invisible I AM. I Am the way. I Am the Truth, and I Am the life, in spiritual consciousness.”

In the third and final segment, we explore the entries in The Revealing Word, beginning with “Eden, Garden of” and ending with "ether.“

  • Episode: The Faculties of Mind

    Episode Description:
This week we return to exploring a very early Twelve Powers talk given on April 10, 1910, entitled “The Faculties of Mind.” Even though we started this on November 15, we start from the beginning today. Fillmore shares about the purpose of the Powers, how they are paired up and why. He also shares how the disciples represent “the history of the development of a higher consciousness in man.”  Two key ideas that Fillmore shared: 1) “So each of these faculties are often possessed of adverse thought.” 2) “All these faculties have to be educated and instructed.” We wrap up with The Revealing Word, beginning with “Eden, Garden of” and going to “egotism.”
  • Episode: Thanks-Giving
Original air date: Tuesday, November 22, 2011
    Episode Description:

This week we explored a Charles Fillmore talk entitled, "Thanksgiving." It was given on Sunday, November 29, 1925. While the lesson does not relate well to the Scripture, this is a very good talk on the importance of giving. Fillmore shares, “If we give in the right attitude, we always receive. … We might begin in our giving by accompanying it with a cheerful, glad thought; begin with gladness.”

We wrap up with The Revealing Word, beginning with “doubt” and ending with the term “ecclesia.”

  • Episode: Denials and Affirmations
Original air date: Tuesday, November 15, 2011
    Episode Description:
This week we finish exploring a talk given by Charles Fillmore October 5, 1926, “Denials and Affirmations.” Fillmore focuses on denials and their importance in the process of letting go, releasing our grip on things and thoughts. All of this is for affirming and claiming the Truth so we put on this “new man of Christ.”

Next we explore a very early Twelve Powers talk given on April 10, 1910, titled “The Faculties of Mind.” Fillmore shares about the purpose of the Powers, how they are paired up and why. He also shares how the disciples represent “the history of the development of a higher consciousness in man.”

  • Episode: Weakness Change to Power
Original air date: Tuesday, November 08, 2011
    Episode Description:
This week we finished exploring a talk given by Charles Fillmore on April 2, 1931, entitled "Weakness Changed to Power." A key idea from this talk is, “Everything that we do, everything that we think, everything that we work, everything that we say, represents some idea in the One Mind, the Source of all ideas.” Fillmore also shares: “There are two baptisms always: one of denial and the other of affirmation.”

Then we explored another talk entitled "Denials and Affirmations," given by Charles Fillmore on October 5, 1926. This very clear talk is full of great ideas. One being, “It means this denial just lets go. It unclasps, it’s clinching fear and releasing, dissipates and is lost in the great universal … Relax your idea in your mind. That’s denial.”

We will complete this talk during the next program.
  • Episode: Power
Original air date: Tuesday, November 01, 2011
    Episode Description:
This week we explore a talk given by Charles Fillmore entitled "Power," given on April 17, 1910. Fillmore emphasizes that we all are and have Power. Fillmore said, “If Jesus Christ taught and demonstrated the power, that there must be, somewhere in man, an undeveloped set of faculties.” Fillmore also shared about obedience. It is not like obedience to a person or authority. It is more like we get the results we want when we are obedient to the laws of electricity or gravity.

We also reviewed a Charles Fillmore talk given on April 2, 1931, entitled "Weakness Changed to Power." A key idea from this talk is, “Everything that we do, everything that we think, everything that we work, everything that we say, represents some idea in the One Mind, the Source of all ideas.”

It focuses on the Power of the Word and how this teaching goes way back to ancient Hebrew customs and perhaps back to the Egyptians and maybe even Atlantis. Fillmore explores how these ancient people bound strips of cloth to their bodies with words written on them. One interesting point he makes is this, “Now, there is no distinction between the Jehovah consciousness of the Hebrews and the Christ Consciousness of the Christians; they are identical.” We will then wrap it up with a few words from The Revealing Word, beginning with “disciple” and ending with “discrimination.”

We’ll also discuss a couple of good examples of Metaphysical Bible interpretation.

In The Revealing Word, we’ll begin with the D's, starting with the first entry, “dainties, king’s” and continuing through “days, three.” This will be a rich sharing and expansion of the terms found in The Revealing Word.

Our talk for this episode, “The Overcoming of Fear,” was given by Charles Fillmore on September 26, 1923. In Charles’ own words, “Consequently we are really talking about nothing when we talk about fear. At the same time we have to consider nothing sometimes. If we have believed in nothing, and if you believe in nothing, you have to deal with nothing, don’t you see? The overcoming of fear begins with understanding God, continues with affirming Truth and using the law of mind [action] to shift our attention away from fear to God."

This talk is basically about claiming our True Nature. Fillmore says, “I am the Son of God; I know I am.” Today, I believe, we would simply say "I am Christ." Fillmore shares some about what the personality is. The most stunning thing Fillmore says is this: “God doesn’t give us anything at all. We say God gives us everything. He doesn’t give us anything.”

Nex, we’ll continue our series from The Revealing Word. We’ll begin with the word, “courage,” and move through and the words “creative Principle.”

  • Episode: Judgment and Justice
Original air date: Tuesday, July 12, 2011
    Episode Description:
In this episode, we began the exploration of Lesson 10, entitled “Judgment and Justice,” given by Charles Fillmore during the first healing conference on July 13, 1923. Fillmore begins as he often does by reinforcing the concept that the totality of God is within man, humankind. He talks a little bit about the Twelve Powers in this way: “We want this Christ in us and we want all the faculties.” So our focus is on the Power of Judgment or Wisdom. The location is at the pit of the stomach. He wraps up the talk by telling us, “You must use judgment, discrimination, in what you eat. You must use judgment in judging other people.” Fillmore also said this: "God laid down a law and we have to conform to that law. If we do not conform to it, we suffer the consequences, but there isn’t a law calling down the law upon us."
  • Episode: Will and Understanding
Original air date: Tuesday, June 28, 2011
    Episode Description:
In this episode we continue exploring the ninth lesson given by Charles Fillmore during the first healing conference. The focus is on Will and Understanding.
